Can a company legally force us to sign over our refund or refuse to do our taxes?

We owe our accountant money for past services. We have a refund coming back. Can the company legally force us to sign over our refund or refuse to do our taxes? Can we have someone else do them or do them ourselves?

No. Trying to force you to do so may be grounds for that professional to lose his, her or its license. Call the state licensing board. Of course you can have someone else do them or do your return yourself.
