A simply living trust may not have any effect on taxes; however, more complicated living trusts can help reduce federal estate taxes. You will want to ensure that you are using the right vehicle for the right purposes.

Assets placed into a living trust are taxed (and deductions received) the same by the Trustor (individual) as they would have been without the trust. There is no new tax I.D. number. Think of the Living Trust like a will. It only take effect at death.
